Winter changes how people use indoor spaces. Windows may remain closed for long periods, household activity becomes concentrated indoors, and dust continues settling on shelves, trim, furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces.
Then spring arrives with stronger daylight, open windows, moved furniture, and seasonal items being stored away. Surfaces that blended into the background during winter can suddenly become much easier to notice.
Spring cleaning can be useful because it addresses what accumulated during one season while preparing the home for the way it will be used during the next.

It can also help to notice whether a room has been mostly unused, whether seasonal decorations added more objects and surfaces, or whether guests changed how the home was used.
The season provides context, but the property itself tells you where the cleaning need developed.

Winter coats replace lighter jackets. Boots appear near entrances. Blankets come out of storage. Fans may be stored away. Holiday decorations come out and later return to boxes. Patio items may move indoors.
These changes can reveal closet floors, shelves, and spaces behind stored objects that usually stay hidden. A storage bin itself may also carry dust before it goes back into a basement, attic, closet, or garage.
